Fitness Myth of the Week
More Sweat = Better Workout
How many times have you heard someone say:
“I was drenched! That workout must’ve been amazing!”
Let’s bust that myth right now.
The Truth:
Sweating doesn’t equal calories burned.
It doesn’t mean fat is melting off your body.
And it definitely doesn’t measure the effectiveness of your workout.
Sweat is just your body’s cooling system. When your core temperature rises, you sweat to stay cool — whether you're training hard or just sitting in a hot room.
What Actually Influences Sweat?
Several factors play into how much you sweat:
Room temperature & humidity
Hydration levels
Clothing choices
Genetics
Caffeine intake
You could do a high-effort strength session in a cool room and barely sweat — while burning more calories and building more muscle than you would in a steamy hot yoga class.
What You Should Focus On:
Forget chasing sweat. Instead, track your:
Workout intensity (how hard are you really pushing?)
Progression (are you lifting more, running farther, moving better?)
Recovery & energy levels (are you feeling stronger week by week?)
Consistency (are you showing up regularly?)
These are the markers of a great workout — not how soaked your t-shirt is.
Final Thought
Sweat is not a scoreboard.
Some of your best workouts won’t leave you dripping — and that’s okay.
💡 Train smart, stay consistent, and let results — not sweat — be your guide.
